After I finished going through a rigorous Master’s degree program and made a career change to a new job that required sitting and typing at a desk, I realized I had put on a lot of weight during that stressful time. I was not happy with how I looked and felt. I did not fit in my clothes anymore, and I did not feel healthy or happy about my body.

I felt old and felt my muscles were weak. I knew I needed to do something to get myself back into shape. Even though I have been physically active in the past, I would still go up and down in my weight, been on and off with my exercising and healthy eating. I knew something had to change.

I searched online for a personal trainer and found Sandy Hancock at Body by Sandy and was very interested in her as a potential personal trainer after reading about her years of experience as a fitness/bikini competitor/winner and personal trainer. After reading the testimonials from her clients, I was even more interested.

I called Sandy up for an interview. She showed me her private gym studio and told me about herself. I knew this is what I needed to do to get myself to my goal. Over the first many months, the weight started coming off, then COVID hit, and I got super sick and had to take a few weeks off. When I returned, I was weak and felt like I was starting all over again, trying to get my strength back. Sandy was very encouraging every step of the way. Then the weight started coming off again; each week, more and more weight would come off.

What I liked most about Sandy that I noticed right off the bat and that helped me the most were; Sandy has a very calm, quiet, peaceful presence and voice that is strong and powerful that encourages you.

Sandy always verbalizes positive affirmations that empower you and make you feel strong. Her statements or comments motivate you and help you know you can do it. For example, I have never felt comfortable or confident in a swimsuit, and Sandy always tells me that you look good and that you need to love your body, or she’ll remind you what your body does for you and be grateful for your body. While you’re lifting, she points out how strong you are or says; you can do this; good job lifting that 45-pound weight. Sandy won’t allow you to put yourself down EVER, and she absolutely won’t let you say negative things about yourself. She teaches you to love your body and yourself. It was something significant for me to learn; I needed this! That alone has taught me a lot about treating myself better mentally along with treating myself better physically. It was good for me to learn to be kinder to myself mentally and verbally.

Last of all, during this journey, I learned how to eat healthily. I eat more now than I ever did before, and it is all healthy food. I ditched the sugar, soda, fast food, and junk food and replaced the wrong food with healthy proteins, healthy carbs/vegetables, and fats. In addition, I learned how to lift weights properly using proper form.

I really couldn’t have done all this without a knowledgeable trainer - someone to help teach me everything and to whom I felt accountable. I highly recommend Sandy Hancock and her program Body by Sandy. It is a very effective program that works and has positive outcomes.

Sandy is a very professional, knowledgeable trainer and will help you achieve your personal fitness goals. It is well worth the money you pay for all that you receive in this program. I highly, highly, highly recommend her. Sandy Hancock is THE BEST personal trainer out there!!! Thank you Sandy for helping me lose 50 pounds, 38 inches overall, and 15% body fat.
