Hold The Negative
I was at the gym the other day and overheard a couple of women talking in the locker room about their workouts that day. Neither of them knew what they were going to train. I thought to myself "how could anyone stay on track if they don't have a plan." I felt bad for the women because I know without a plan and goal in mind there will be no progress. Time continues to slip by and the extra weight is still there which leads to depression and health issues. I later thought to myself "wow...it would be cool if these women knew about my online training." Online training is training outlined for YOU at your level and is e-mailed directly to you for you to follow at the gym or at home, keeping you on track for you goals of weight-loss and long-term health benefits. Check out my special coupon below for online training and continue to, "Hold the negative!" |

Dear Athlete,
With the holidays right around the corner I'm sure a lot of you are not thinking about exercising or making your mornings a little less hectic. But in this month's newsletter that's exactly what I want to talk about because a part of making it through the holidays without putting on those extra pounds is exercising. Plus, don't overlook ways to make your mornings more meaningful, especially during this time of year. These topics seem so simple to understand but so hard to incorporate into our lives. We continue to neglect taking the time to give our bodies, minds, and spirits what they need to perform at their best. In this newsletter I will talk about the importance of warming up before you exercise and about starting your mornings off right. Eliminate stress and anxiety in your life and in return you will enjoy your family and your mornings more. Making the rest of your day fantastic. |

Perfect Warm-up
Have you ever skipped your warm-up thinking it really doesn't matter? Maybe you're short on time, or you are thinking that the main workout is what really counts. If you are going to skip something in your routine, the last thing should be your warm-up. Here's why; did you know that warming up will make you fitter, stronger and faster over time? It also is essential for preventing injury and making your workout feel easier compared to just jumping into your routine. Improve your performance with an appropriate warm-up and you will benefit with the following:
>Increased speed of contraction and relaxation of warmed muscles (allowing you to run faster and train harder)
>Reduced muscle stiffness
>Greater range of motion
>Increased endurance and speed by allowing higher maximum oxygen consumption
>A specific warm-up can facilitate communication between the nervous system and the muscular system also called motor unit recruitment
>Increased muscle core temperature which makes movements feel easier
>Allows the heart rate to get to a workable capacity to perform
>A sharper mind, increasing motivation and focus |

Perfect Mornings
Do you start your morning rushing around and being in a panic to get ready for the rest of the day? Are you tired of being frantic every morning? Take a step back and ask yourself if this is good for your mind, body and spirit. I think you know the answer, so now; how do we cope? What can we do to change the automatic stress we cause ourselves every morning? Finding some quiet-time and/or alone-time in the morning can be tough sometimes. Here's a few things that have helped me start my day off with a feeling of confidence, calm and serenity.
Identify your causes of stress and make some changes:
>Sleep - Make a plan to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Sleep in a dark quiet room. Do yourself a big favor and put the TV in another room.
>Reduce Worry - Promise yourself not to worry for one day and things may not seem as bad the next day. Meditating for 3- 5 minutes every day, only thinking positive thoughts can change how you feel.
>Simplify - You don't have to do everything. Are there others in your home that should be helping around the house? Delegate to others who should be doing their part. When everyone wants your help it's ok to say no.
>Encourage Teamwork - Share morning family rituals that include everyone helping with something like making the toast, cooking the eggs, getting lunches ready, etc. will help eliminate anxiety. A morning ritual could also include a morning stretch, meditation or jogging with some friends. Think of it as something you look forward to and enjoy. |
