Hold the Negative
One of the pleasures in my life is being around clients, friends and family that are positive, caring and thoughtful. They add support and encouragement to everyone around them. In this world of challenges and victories it is nice to have someone there to share whatever we are going through with us. I want to say thank you to all my clients, friends and family that are always there to support, encourage and help me become a better person. In my business I am hired to teach, motivate and encourage my clients and in return my clients teach, motivate and encourage me right back. So, thank you to you all and remember to Hold the Negative. |

Dear Athlete,
One of my favorite things to do is educate myself when it comes to health and fitness. I love learning about the newest research and studies conducted, showing what works and what doesn't. There is so much information out there but who has time to read it all? Every time I read an article or some information about the latest research I want to share it with all my clients. In this newsletter I'm going to do just that - share with you some of the information that has intrigued me and made the most sense. |

Make Eating Easy
All of the highest quality foods are foods that don't take much time to prepare. They are whole foods like vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and lean meats. These foods feed your brain, organs and cells with energy, nutrition and cancer fighting elements. When we eat processed, deep fried, high trans fats foods we are slowly killing our bodies. It's not easy to hide a body that is slowing being killed; we see it everyday with obesity. I meet with people everyday who tell me they are eating healthy but you can tell they are not eating healthy just by looking at them. It really makes me sad to see this happening. One of my passions is helping and showing my clients how to change their lives through positive eating habits and to see them start feeling and looking amazing, just by changing what they eat.
Here are a few suggestions that will help change your life to a healthier, happier, leaner you.
1. Eat every 2.5 to 3 hours - This will speed up your metabolism because your body knows it will be feed, therefore it will burn what you eat. The catch; you need to eat whole foods, like fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meats, raw nuts, beans and good carbs. This is because these whole foods will digest quickly and your body will utilize their nutrients more effectively. Processed foods do not digest as quickly and make you feel bloated and sick. If you are wondering what a good carb is, here are some examples: old-fashioned oatmeal, quinoa, yams, sweet potatoes, Cream of Wheat, brown cream of rice, buckwheat and Ezekiel bread to name a few (Ezekiel is sprouted bread that will digest easily in your tummy). All these foods will not sit in your tummy and make you sick. They will digest quickly and your body will utilize their nutrients making every cell in your body stronger to fight off disease.
2. Stop and ask yourself the question; what will this food I'm eating do to my body? Will it make you strong, make your tummy flat, give you energy for today and tomorrow, will it digest, will it make your heart and arteries strong, will it make your muscles stronger, will it make your skin younger? Eating clean non-processed foods will change your life and how you feel about life because they make you feel good and have more energy. What will you do with all that extra energy? Life is meant to be enjoyed and you can't enjoy it if you're not feeling good. Nutrition plays a big part in that. Change what you eat and change your life.
3. There are healthy foods some people think are unhealthy. In the past the media made us think that high fat foods are bad for us. What about avocados, raw nuts and seeds, egg yolks and olive oil? The truth is these high fat foods can actually help you lose weight. Our brain are 60% fat and when we don't give our brains the healthy fats it needs it will continue to have cravings, eating the right fats will stop the cravings. America was taught to cut the fats and the results are out - there are more obese people than ever. Now let's reverse the damage and add back in those healthy fats. Some examples are 1/2 avocado, or 1 oz of raw nuts or seeds, have a yolk with your egg whites, use 1 Tbs olive oil and vinegar for salad dressings or on your veggies. This will prevent you from having cravings and overeating.
4. Don't forget that exercise is the number one way to prevent obesity, diabetes, heart disease and depression. There are always new studies out on the latest weight loss pill and its negative effects on the body, but it is very rare to hear negative effects of exercising.
